Welcome to the 2024 Deka Lake Fishing Derby

Join us for an unforgettable experience at the Deka Lake & District Ratepayers Association's annual Fishing Derby, returning with more excitement and community spirit. Last year's event was a tremendous success, thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the enthusiastic participation of our community. With 536 tickets sold and roughly 100 boats on the waters, it was a day to remember. Let's make the 2024 Derby even more spectacular!

2023 Derby Highlights

A Smashing Success: Our inaugural event was nothing short of phenomenal. With just six weeks of preparation, the DL&DRA executive team and volunteers pulled off an incredible day of fishing, community, and fun at beautiful Deka Lake.

Tickets Sold: 484 Adult Derby tickets and 52 children tickets, totaling 536 enthusiastic participants.

Fish Caught: Participants brought in an impressive haul across various categories, including Rainbow, Laker, and Kokanee, with both adults and children showcasing their fishing skills.

Community Spirit: The event was made even more special with free delicious muffins, treats, and beverages in the morning, a complimentary BBQ serving around 500 meals, and the generous donations from community members like Ken Kineshanko.

Winners of the 2023 Derby

Congratulations to all our winners, who demonstrated skill, patience, and a little bit of luck:

• Children's Category: Ryder Vernon led in both the Rainbow and Laker categories, with notable catches also from Aleena Kwiatkowski, Heather Peltz, and others in the Kokanee category.
• Adult Category: Dan Stoelwinder stole the show with the heaviest Laker, while Sheri Wiseman, Lexi Russell, and Brigiette McArthur led the Rainbow catches. The Kokanee category was fiercely competitive, showcasing the talents of Mike Pittenger, Ryan McKay, and many more.

Looking Ahead
